Abstract:With the acceleration of globalization, the rapid development of information age and the continuous deepening of reforming and opening up, film and television works, with the combined functions of entertainment and cultural exchange, are increasingly popular in international market. As an intuitive and effective cross-cultural means of communication, films have aroused much attention. Therefore, subtitle translation shoulders the responsibility of building a bridge between foreign culture and Chinese audiences. This paper intends to analyze the subtitle translation of the “Kung Fu Panda” series from the perspective of skopos theory, focusing on the related subtitle translation principles and techniques. Through perfecting subtitle translation strategies, it aims to narrow the language and culture differences between the original film and the translated one, the subtitle translation research gaining attention from scholars.
