Abstract:There are many ways for the country to spread culture, and one very effective way is through film and television dramas. Now, with the deepening of internationalization, various foreign film and television programs have also prospered in China.This also represents an increase in the demand for subtitle translation of American drama. 

  Film translation is very important in translation area. But it is a little different from other areas. So we mainly talk about some major features in this paper. Here, we will discuss the topic through the functional pairing theory. Here we mainly discuss the influence of translation theory on subtitle translation. One of the translation theories is very applicable to the translation of film and television subtitles - functional equivalence. In the field of translation, it can be understood that after translation, Chinese people will have the same reaction when watching American TV. Laughing at some place when there has a joke.
