Abstract: With the influx of American TV series, subtitle is a crucial part and a direct reflection of the culture of American TV series, and plays an increasingly important role in the spread of American TV series. Among all the factors that have impacts on subtitle translation, there’s one which cannot be ignored--culture. And it is also the elementary motivation for the development of language. Thus the internal content of pop culture is reflected by domestic subtitle groups, which is worth further discussion and research. This paper mainly applies some current translation theories to explore how culture influences subtitle translation, and selects some examples of Harry Potter to demonstrate these views, and analyzes the emotions, judgments, appreciation and other aspects of the original film and the translation.
