Abstract：“Shi” Sentences are used in many occasions in china. English copula sentences are also very important in English. Many people often equate Chinese “shi” sentences with English copula sentences improperly. Although articles about Chinese “shi” sentences and English copula sentences frequently appear on various publications, few of them have brought the Chinese “shi” sentence and English copula sentence into comparison.  In this thesis, the Chinese “shi” sentence and the English copula sentence are compared and contrasted. The observation reveals that although superficially they resemble each other in structure, there actually exist many differences in their usage. The author believes that acquaintance with their similarity and dissimilarity will benefit language learners in English learning and translation.

摘要：“是” 字句是汉语中常见的句型，同样，英语系词句是英语中的不可或缺的句型。很多人经常把汉语的“是”字句错误的等同于英语系词句。虽然有很多人研究了汉语的“是”字句和英语的系词句，也有许多相关这两种句型的书籍出版。但是，很少有人把这两种句型作对比研究。在我的论文中，我将把汉语的“是”字句和英语的系词句作对比和研究。从表面上看它们在结构上有相似性，但是在用法上，它们是存在差异的。本人认为，了解它们之间的异同，有利于语言学习者的学习和翻译。
