Abstract: Adjective (referred to as adj.) is a kind of word-class to endow nouns with some features. It is one of the major parts of speech. Studying it is of great value. Based on literature review, the paper aims to discuss adjectives with regard to the definition, the use and the classification of English adjectives. And then from the viewpoint of  cognitive linguistics, along with English grammar, sentence structures and some other perspectives to discuss the word order arrangement rules of English adjectives in English sentences and noun phrases. Some explanations are presented in terms of the rules of English adjective order arrangement.

摘要：形容词（简称adj.）是将名词事物的某种属性加以特化的词，是主要词类的一种,具有很大的研究意义。因此，本研究拟在综述文献的基础上，阐述英语形容词的定义、用法以及分类，再从认知语言学的角度，结合英语语法和句子结构等方面研究英语形容词在名词短语或句子中的词序排列规律，最终能对这些英语形容词的词序排列规则做出解释。
