Abstract：Jane Austen is famous for her romantic fiction. Pride and Prejudice，one of her masterpieces, gives us a vivid portrayal of the pursuit of marriage of middle-class women in the 18th century, and the perfect marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy is admired by readers. With necessarily economic and material basis, the deep mutual respect and understanding developed between Elizabeth and Darcy leads to their happy marriage. Jane Austen represents her matrimonial value in Pride and Prejudice. What is her matrimonial value? What is the basis of marriage? How can we get a happy marriage? From the perspective of interpersonal relationships in social psychology, this thesis analyzes the marriage in the book, especially the happy marriage of Darcy and Elizabeth. By analyzing the decisive factors and principles of the basis of marriage and the principles of a happy marriage, Jane Austen’s matrimonial value in Pride and Prejudice is revealed.
