Abstract:American translation theorist Eugene Albert Nida said : “Change is one of the important characteristics of English ”.Because language varies with the development of society, which shows that vocabulary, as the most active factor in language, must grow in changing development as clearly and obviously as possible. The variation change of politics, economy, science and technology, culture and same fields push forward the development of language. Especially over the last fifty and sixty years, numbers of English neologisms emerge as the times require, which describe new things and new problems and express people’s understanding and view about new stuffs. At the same time, lot of old words gradually fall into disuse. The increasing of English neologism is the highlighting of language development. This paper refers to” Oxford neologism dictionary”and “New York Times” as materials, analyzes the main semantic field and studies its constitution form and development direction. It’s hoped that this paper will help other English learners.
