ABSTRACT

This paper mainly studies the translation strategies of “Faithfulness, Expressiveness, and Elegance”. With these translation strategies as framework, the paper illustrates their applications to Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises (Chinese version of Zhang Kuanxin). The first chapter introduces the background of Hemingway’s language style and the introduction of The Sun Also Rises. In the second chapter, the paper focuses on the changes and developments of the translation strategies of “Faithfulness, Expressiveness, and Elegance” during the time when it has been put forward by Yanfu until present. And then the 13th and 14th chapters of The Sun Also Rises are involved in the third chapter as an example to interpret how to put the translation strategies into practice. And the whole paper will be summarized in the last chapter. Two chapters in middle are the important part of my paper.
