Abstract: Extracurricular college English learning is very important to the improvement of students’ English comprehensive abilities, but it is not much appreciated in teaching. The paper tries to survey extracurricular learning of English majors in Nanjing Xiaozhuang University to investigate the status quo in local college, finds out the existing problems, and puts forward some measures with the purpose of facilitating the all-round improvement of students’ abilities. The paper made use of questionnaire and interview and data analysis yielded the following findings. Firstly, lacking of systematic organization of extracurricular English learning activities leads to the inefficiency of extracurricular English learning. Secondly, there is little professional help given to students for their extracurricular English learning. Thirdly, students’ participation is low and their attitudes remain to be changed.
