Abstract
A Rose for Emily is a famous short story by the twentieth Century American novelist William Faulkner. In this novel, Faulkner set up the conflicts to promote the development of the story, and then ruthlessly exposes and criticizes the abuse of women's puritanical Womanhood and control women’s soul and destroy their happiness of patriarchy, besides, it also expose that at that time, people living in the southern society, their human nature is distorted in the social reality. The author attempts to interpret the art connotation implied in the novel from five aspects: the conflict of death and love, Emily's conflict with his father, the conflict of, Emily and town residents and officials, the love conflict of Emily and Homer Barron and the conflict of Emily and several other relatives.
