Abstract:From Shakespeare’s Tempest at the end of 16th till William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, there are a series of literature works which are based on the Desert Island as their subjects. The modern scholars show great interests in the Desert Island Literature, a diachronic literature, which has some characteristics in common because of originating from the same subject. This thesis will brief analyze the Desert Island Literature set Lord of the Flies as the entry point. This article will start from the following points to analysis: First, analysis and introduce the overall concept and background information of desert island literature. Then give a brief introduction to some representative works of desert island literature, and tell what happened under the background of Desert Island to expose the deep significance. Second, briefly introduce the writing background and content of the Lord of the Flies, And relate work to analyze the reflection of desert island literature in the Lord of the Flies, such as the description of the environment and the performance of novel characters, especially several protagonist, in this environment, through the analysis of the works to explain the profound significance in the background of the desert island. Finally, summarize the content of this article and explain the reason why start from these perspectives of reads. At the same time, it will be my honor to report my view on the Desert Island Literature in the hope of serving as a modest spur to induce others to come forward with their valuable contributions and share my opinion on the subject with the readers who are interested in the subject.
