Abstract: With the improvement of people's life nowadays, sports, especially basketball games, have become an indispensable part of our daily life, which makes sports news playing a big part in the news. The basic function of sports is to keep people fit and healthy, but as a form of social civilization, it has other functions. Consequently, the translation of sports news has great practical and theoretical significance in today's society. In view of this, the translation of sports news should seek its own way to substitute traditional strategies, which are mostly based on lingual equivalence. This paper takes Skopos theory as a theoretical support, applying three rules of Skopos theorie to guide sports reports translation. The aim of the paper is to discuss under the guidance of Skopos theory what kind of translation methods translators should choose and how they can apply this rule to improve the unsuitable translation.
