Abstract:With the development of the society, there is continuous progress for junior middle school English teaching’s reform, such as some new teaching ideas and teaching approaches. The instruction model of GLP is one of the representatives, which uses GLP to as a supporter to present the functions of students as classroom masters and teacher as a learning guide. It aims to improve the students’ autonomous learning ability. English GLP is designed with curriculum standards, teaching goals, teaching thoughts and the situations of students’ learning. This paper analyzes the situation of the application of English GLP based on the aspects of the GLP’S design, use and effects via the questionnaire, interview and classroom observation. According to the analysis, this paper points out some problems about the application of GLP. For instance, firstly, the contents of GLP are monotonous. Secondly, the English GLP is not fully utilized and the positive effects are not obvious. Thirdly, the comments on students’ performance toward English GLP are insufficiency. At last, this paper provides suggestions for the further development of English GLP.
