Abstract
Since the 20th century, the cultivation and development of critical thinking has been a heated topic for researching. Critical thinking has become a study focus as an important part of the overall development of students. Since core literacy has been promoted, critical thinking can be studied as a part of “thinking quality”. Flipped classroom is a new type of class. This model requires students to learn new knowledge at home, and teachers to help students solve problems. The classroom has become a place for interacting. The promotion of flipped classroom has pushed the cultivation of critical thinking to a higher stage.

Therefore, it contributes to the cultivation of critical thinking. This thesis will discuss the application of flipped classroom in high-school English reading teaching. Data studies method is used in the writing of the thesis. By searching, analyzing and reorganizing studies, a conclusion is made: flipped classroom is beneficial for the cultivation of critical thinking ability and students’ overall development.
