Abstract
Writing is one of the crucial courses of English learning and is the most important written forms of language output, which embodies the comprehensive ability of students’ English learning. However, students still have the feeling that writing is the most difficult part. Besides, English writing skills of high school students in our country are still not ideal. The reason is that teachers and students sometimes ignore teachers’ writing feedback. Teachers’ feedback is a vital way to improve students’ writing skills and its role cannot be ignored in the teaching of English writing. Therefore, how to give an effective teachers’ feedback is very important.
Based on the feedback theory as the theoretical basis, combined with questionnaire and interview as other survey methods, this thesis finds out the types and effects of teachers’ feedback in high school English writing and the students’ opinion toward teachers’ feedback. Most students consider teachers’ feedback is of great help in improving writing skills. However, there still exists discordance between what the teacher gives and what the learners need.
The study has shown that teachers’ feedback is an effective tool of English teaching, which provides a great help for students’ writing. The results provide advice for high school English teachers when giving feedback.
