Abstract: The thesis reviews the theory about cross-culture awareness and puts forward the problems of cultivating students’ cross-culture awareness in junior middle school English Teaching. Aimed at those problems, this thesis generalizes three principles of cultivating middle school students’ cross-culture awareness, towards which several teaching methods have been presented according the principles. Those methods include infiltrating cultural background in English vocabulary teaching, combining reading teaching with culture and having culture-featured classroom activities, etc. At last, this thesis emphasizes the significance of cultivating cross-culture awareness for middle school students. The conclusion of the thesis is that teachers should teach English with the purpose of cultivating students’ cross-cultural awareness and communicative competence, obey the certain teaching principles and take reasonable and effective teaching methods, as thus, the cultivation of students’ cross-cultural awareness will fall into place.
