中文摘要：课外阅读是在课堂教学之外、阅读教材之外的材料的活动，以学生自主阅读为主。初中是学生养成良好课外阅读习惯的重要阶段，然而在传统的教学过程中，鲜有初中英语教师对学生课外英语阅读做实质性的要求，许多初中生也很少有机会参加课外阅读活动。尽管目前初中英语教师已经逐渐认识到初中课外阅读的重要性，但英语课外阅读活动在课外阅读的重要性的认识、阅读材料的选择、阅读量、阅读技巧、学生课外阅读活动参与度、教师的参与程度和指导方式等方面存在诸多问题。对此，学生应掌握阅读所需的英语知识和阅读技巧，提高自主阅读能力，积极参加课外阅读活动；教师应以身作则，积极进行课外阅读，同时合理分配时间以安排学生的课外阅读活动，加强监督及理论指导和开展丰富多彩的英语课外阅读活动；家长也应重视学生课外阅读。改善初中生课外英语阅读现状，需教师、学生和家长三方配合，树立正确的课外阅读观念，共同营造良好的阅读环境。
