Abstract

Having developed for over a century, film has become one of the most popular ways of entertainment. People have much more chances to appreciate the elaborate and excellent films from all over the world. As an important part of a film, the title has its unique linguistic feature and culture connotation. If someone wants to understand the content of a film, he will try to know the title first. A good film title translation can make the audience feel good and it can realize the commercial value and the aesthetic value of the film. The same film is always variously translated because of the culture differences. To translate a title well is a significant and creative task. A fantastic translation of the title can be the icing on the cake. Based on the culture difference and characteristics of film title translation, this thesis aims to analyze the different translation of film titles in Chinese Mainland, Hongkong and Taiwan.
