Abstract:At present, among the Sino-US value differences, the value differences between collectivism and individualism are mostly studied by many scholars. After reading books related to this topic, the writer discovers that the value differences between collectivism and individualism would cause great impact on and bring about relevant problems in cross-cultural communication. Therefore, it is quite necessary for English learners, especially for those who will communicate with the Americans, to learn the value differences between collectivism and individualism in order to reach an effective communication.

　　　In this paper, the writer will discuss the major value differences between collectivism and individualism and their influence over cross-cultural communication and problems faced by Chinese and Amerians and will put forward some suggestions to avoid problems in communication.

中文摘要:目前，在中美价值观差异中，集体主义与个人主义价值观差异成为许多学者研究的热点。通过阅读了相关的资料，作者发现，在中美跨文化交际活动中，集体主义与个人主义价值观差异会给交际双方带来冲突并引发一定的问题。因此，在中美跨文化交际中，为了进行有效交流，英语学习者，特别是那些将来有可能与美国人交流的英语学习者，有必要学习中美集体主义与个人主义价值观差异。

　　　在此，笔者将分析集体主义与个人主义主要的价值观差异对跨文化交际的影响以及差异在跨文化交际中带来的问题，进而提出一些避免问题产生的建议。
