Abstract

The Sense of an Ending mainly recounts the protagonist Tony’s memory of exploring his self-knowledge. In this essay, we can get the Barnes’s basic historical attitude, from the two aspects : the differences between the memory of the events and the real events, and the distinction between the events described by the outside world and real events, to interpret Barnes’s history view, that is, questioning the authenticity of the history and showing the unreliability of history. During the presentation of historical events, Barnes displayed his historicist view and his search of his own story.
