Abstract

With the development of globalization, more and more Chinese movies are introduced to foreign countries; people from all over the world now have easy access to get to know Chinese culture through Chinese movies. Therefore C-E movie title translation from cultural perspective is very important. This study is on C-E movie title translation from cultural perspective. This paper introduces Chinese movie title, including its naming methods and features. Then much importance is attached to analyzing relationships between culture and Chinese movie title, such as cultural factors influencing the translation of Chinese movie title, movie’s contribution to culture. So by no means should we ignore the cultural factors, when translating Chinese movie title into English well. Different cultures are reflected in different Chinese movie titles, so some translation techniques are used to make the translated Chinese movie titles successful in getting the perfect results.
