Abstract:This paper sets to analyze Daphne Du Maurièr's novel Rebecca in three aspects: the skill of suspension, Gothic writing style and symbolism. It turns out that Maurier shows her great talent in the writing approaches, which successfully applies suspension, Gothic writing and symbolism in Rebecca. It makes the theme more prominent and definite. There is a constructive complement and explanation to the similar writing techniques of the predecessors. The results of this thesis are beneficial to the readers to improve the aesthetic value of literature in the process of deepening the text impression.
