中文摘要：华裔作为一个特殊的群体，一方面，在外国人眼中，他们继承了中华民族的传统文化，另一方面，对于中国人来讲，他们又深受外国文化的影响。因此，他们在两种文化的交流中难免会产生冲突。本文所研究的电影《喜福会》描述的是第一代中国移民移居美国后，四个深受中国传统文化影响的母亲和她们从小在美国土生土长的女儿之间由一开始的文化冲突，碰撞，到最后的逐渐理解和热爱。本文尝试通过对电影《喜福会》中四对母女关系的研究，对比分析中西方文化在价值观，婚姻观，爱情观，教育方式和语言表达方式等方面的差异。并通过对电影《喜福会》中不同人物性格以及命运的刻画，表现中西方在文化之间的差异与交融。同时也深刻细致地表达出这种差异和交融对人们的启发和思考，从而寻求避免文化冲突的有效方法。
