中文摘要:本文从顺应理论的角度，采用语篇分析的方法，以希拉里•克林顿为例，对特权人物的社会身份建构进行了研究，即阐释在特定的社会文化语境下，特定的社会身份的产生与建构过程，要素及其作用。

根据Tajfel(1982)对“社会身份”这一概念的阐述，我们得知社会身份的产生源于个体对于其所属的社会群组成员身份的认知；人们通过与自我身份意识相关的描述或解释, 或者通过对具体语境中的具体事情的描述来理性地建构、维系、增强或保护其身份意识。

在此基础上，本文在第三章中提出Verschueren(1999)的顺应理论作为本文的理论框架。作为一个语言的输出者希拉里•克林顿在发表演讲、与节目主持人进行言语交际等时,为了达到一定的交际目的，会在每个阶段做出一定的语言选择，包括语言形式和语言策略。需要指出的是，这种选择并不是静态固定的，而是动态协商的结果。经过一系列的选择和协商，不同的社会身份就建立起来了。通过分析这些语言选择，本文将试图探讨影响社会身份建构的因素以及其带来的影响。 

本文的研究结果表明希拉里•克林顿在发表演讲、与节目主持人进行语言交流等时的社会身份建构现象是非常明显的。社会身份的建构在特权人物的话语中是比较常见的,一方面是为了维护国家及个人的形象，另一方面也是顾及广大民众的需求。希望本文能够有助于更好地了解特权人物的话语, 提高读者的批判性阅读意识。
