Abstract: The publishing of The Classic of Tea is recognized the source of tea culture, which gives the west an access to Chinese tea culture. Among the ten chapters in The Classic of Tea, there are numerous culture-loaded words that reflect ancient Chinese ecological culture, material culture, social culture, religious culture, linguistic culture, etc. Whether they can be translated appropriately or not is important for the transmission of this book and tea culture therein. According to the guide of domestication and foreignization, this paper analyses the translation of culture-loaded words in The Classic of Tea. By finding out the reasons why translating may cause cultural loss, this paper, also puts forward the cultural compensation methods.
