Abstract:Ethnolinguistics is a comprehensive discipline which uses the theories and methods of linguistics and cultural anthropology. And its aim of study is cultural or social phenomena. Sexism in English language has a long history. It is mainly because of the different Western cultural traditions and social division of labor, people have the deep-rooted ideology like “the outside of the male lord, inside female lord” or “man is superior to woman”. From the perspective of Ethnolinguistics, there are a lot of reasons resulting in sexism in English language. They are including social reasons, historical reasons and cultural reasons, but the most important reason is language variation. Therefore, this paper, from the perspective of Ethnolinguistics, studies the language of discrimination from the language variation and the differences of gender cultural, and it also finds the ways to avoid sexism in the English language.

摘要:人类文化语言学是一门综合的学科，它运用语言学和文化人类学的理论和方法，研究文化或者社会的现象。英语中的性别歧视现象由来已久。这主要是由于西方文化传统和社会分工的不同，给人们思想意识造成根深蒂固的 “男主女从”、“男尊女卑”的偏见性影响。从人类文化语言学的角度看，造成英语中的性别歧视现象有很多方面，包括社会原因、历史原因和文化原因，但最重要的原因是语言的变异。因此，本文从人类文化语言学的角度出发，从语言的变异和性别文化的差异去研究英语中的性别歧视现象，并且寻找规避英语中性别歧视现象的方法。
