ABSTRACT:Based on the basic theories of motivation and teaching motivation, the study intends to investigate the current situation of English teacher’s teaching motivation in Honghe prefecture and the differences of teaching motivation in gender and age. The research findings are: 1.English teachers’ teaching motivation of middle school and primary school is generally a little strong at present; 2. As for the internal factors, there is a burning desire on teachers’ sense of self-efficacy and teachers’ responsibility; 3. As for the external factors, the teachers’ attitudes to school’s teaching environment has close connection with teaching motivation, but the social relationship has no great influence on teaching motivation; 4.There is no significant differences in gender and age. The research results are expected to further rich our understanding of English teacher’s teaching motivation and be helpful to give references to improve teaching motivation of English teachers.
