Abstract:One Day is a popular novel written by David Nicholls, a British writer. The novel uses time as a clue, starting from July 15, 1988 and ending at July 15, 2011. Dexter, the protagonist in this novel, has undergone a transformation from a free-falling deaf to a mature, peaceful middle-aged father. It is themed as their love, friendship, and the growth of a boy. The feeling of growing up in lives is like a hodgepodge, and there will be any taste. Growth is an unavoidable stage in life. When it is found that it grows bit by bit, when it seems to be mature little by little, people need to say goodbye to the pure side. On the road to growth, people may really learn many truths from the past setbacks and failures. In the end, people will learn to cherish what are around them in the future. After experiencing setbacks, people can grow up and feel what they care most about.

This paper starts from the concept of growth. Through the narrative of personal growth, it expresses the experience and emotion in the process of socialization, reflecting the process of change from childishness to maturity. Therefore, growth is not only a change in physical physiology, but also a change in cognitive and emotional maturity.
