Abstract:With the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and the United States, the discussion on various fields of culture has become more and more intense. Because of its special historical and social influence, ghost culture plays an important guiding role in the study of cultural differences between China and American. At present, Chinese people mainly understand American ghost culture through various kinds of films and literary works, connected with relevant Chinese ghost culture for comparison. Starting from the different cultural characteristics of ghosts in China and America, this paper summarizes the overall differences in three aspects. This includes the differences in the origin of Chinese and American ghosts, the differences in social functions of Chinese and American ghosts, and the differences between Chinese and American ghosts in film and television literature. On this basis, this paper makes a brief analysis of the cultural differences between Chinese and American ghosts, so as to deepen our understanding of the cultural differences between the two countries.
