Abstract:The Shawshank Redemption is a classic inspirational film that encourages people to fight for their own dignity. Redemption is one of the themes of western culture. As long as we have hope, we will be able to redeem ourselves. This is the case with Andy, the protagonist of the film. At the same time, it also provides reference and thinking for people in today's society who are on the verge of despair and institutionalized. This article mainly discusses the image of Andy in the film “The Shawshank Redemption” to explore the redemption spirit. In the end, it is very important to show that no matter what difficulties we encounter, if we do not give up, and always hope, we will succeed. In other words, "Hold on to hope in a desperate situation, believe in and hold on to something that could make people crazy." Because it is also the most wonderful thing that has ever been in the heart of many people who are in trouble and it is a great pity to give up. That is the meaning of redemption. All in all, through the analysis and research of this work, we can have a deeper insight into the meaning of "redemption" and achieve true self-redemption.
