Abstract: As a unique language expression, Chinese folk wisecrack not only attracts the public's favorite with short, imagic and humorous features, but also contains rich cultural connotation and unique national characteristics. By translating Chinese folk wisecracks, foreign readers can understand the extensiveness and profoundness of Chinese language and culture, and also carry forward the traditional Chinese history and culture, which is conducive to the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western cultures. Based on the analysis of Chinese folk wisecracks, this thesis proposes four strategies for C-E translation of it from the perspective of Skopos theory, and according to documentary translation and instrumental translation in Skopostheorie.
