Abstract: Mark Twain was a famous American writer and humorist, and he was also a great speaker. At the same time, in the literary history, he was also a great realistic writer, and he was good at ironic works. As Mark Twain's classic work, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was the emotional experience of the author when he was a child in miniature. The author combined the Mississippi River and the west border areas’ realistic life, which was the background of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. What’s more, the author gave the scathing irony and the strong criticism about the racial issues and the moral ideas at that time. Since the novel was published, the critics analyzed The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from multiple angles, such as characters’ structure, race, culture, etc.. However, there were a few analyses about local color of the novel. This paper was based on the novel text, and the analysis works at home and abroad about this novel were the reference, researching local color in aspects of natural and social environment, language, and the pursuit of humanistic spirit of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This paper was aimed at exploring the cultural connotation of local color in this novel.
