Abstract:George Orwell’s Animal Farm, a Fairy Tale, is one of the famous literal works that have distinguished features. Critics and readers are impressed by its unique plot and the meaningful thoughts and ideas that Orwell wanted to convey. The significance of Animal Farm is not just its political irony, but also it contains George Orwell’s deep thinking and concerns about human beings future. Through this novella, George Orwell showed his great disappointment with the realities in which there were no equality, liberty and democracy. Though the story happened in Animal Farm was paralleled to the history of Soviet Union, Orwell expressed his concerns not merely over Soviet Union and socialism, but the whole universe.
In Orwell’s dystopian thoughts, morals and spirits could not be replaced by the pursuit of material comforts. If there were corruptions in political and social life, people would discriminate and morality would degenerate, then the whole spiritual world would collapse. Utopia would always be a dream.
Key Words:George Orwell’s ;Animal Farm
Under the imprisonment of totalitarianism, in dystopia, the spiritual civilization was suffering great damage. In Animal Farm, this damage could be displayed through the changes of animals’ thoughts and some important slogans. Animals were fooled and mind-controlled by the language, thus the pig leaders could reach their goals of controlling the whole society and protecting their own benefits. Animal Farm was filled with many songs, including Major’s stirring “Beasts of England”, the sheep’s chants, and Minimus’s revised anthem, “Animal Farm, Animal Farm.” All of these songs served as moral and political propaganda to control animals’ thoughts and minds when the working-class animals spoke the same words at the same time (Bloom 134). These songs killed animals’ consciousness of rebellion and individuality. When the only sense left in these animals was just working, there are no freedom and liberty anymore on the farm.
