Abstract：In recent years, researchers at home and abroad have made great effort in the studies of reading strategies. However, most of these studies focus less on specific major or certain colleges. Therefore, based on the learning strategies, this thesis attempts to investigate the situation of reading cognitive strategies of Freshmen of English majors of Zengcheng College of South China Normal University and make an analysis of it.

　　　In this thesis, the author did a investigation with a questionnaire and an interview to look into the situation about reading strategies of freshmen of English majors of Zengcheng College. Through the survey and analysis, I found out that most of the Freshmen of English majors of Zengcheng College are still not clear about many different cognnitive reading strategies, which is not enough in their learning reading. However, most of them exactly employed some reading strategies like skimming, scanning, analyzing words etc, though they can not even use them properly. The successful readers just know how, when and where to use an appropriate strategy in their English reading learning process. So to learn reading strategies properly and systematically is extremly needed for the freshmen of English majors of independent colleges.

摘要：关于阅读策略，近年来国内外学者做了大量研究。然而，这些英语阅读策略的研究较少具体到某个专业或某个学院。因此，本研究试图调查与分析华南师范大学增城学院英语专业大一学生的阅读学习认知策略使用情况。

　　在这次调查与分析中，我们同时运用问卷与访谈以调查增城学院英语专业大一学生使用英语阅读学习策略的具体情况。通过问卷与访谈调查，我们发现增城学院多数英专大一学生对阅读认知策略了解还不够。然而，他们大多数人都的确使用过一些阅读学习策略，如跳读，寻读，猜词等等，可是却不能灵活运用它们。优秀的英语学习者在英语阅读学习中知道何时，何处合理地运用阅读策略。调查分析表明，独立学院英语专业大一学生非常必要系统合理学习阅读策略。
