Abstract:In recent years, with the deepening development of globalization and increasing global exchanges, interpreters are in short supply. To meet the huge demand for interpreters, Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI) was launched in some outstanding and competent universities in China. Meanwhile, interpretation training institutions are flourishing in a great number of cities. And some universities offer interpretation courses for undergraduate students.
Lured by the high salary, many people aspire to embark on the road of interpretation. Along their learning journey, they meet with a variety of difficulties. And this paper focuses on problems undergraduate may encounter and solutions for their improvement, which will not only strengthen their interpretation skills but their English as a whole. The major problem this paper discusses is about information deficiency from six perspectives: listening ability, translation techniques, memory, note-taking, prediction and psychological factors. Then it proposes solutions accordingly to make improvements.
