Abstract:There are many differences between English and Chinese in cultural background, idiomatic expression and grammatical structure. In English-Chinese translation, in order to make translations more expressive and close to the original text, it is impossible to seek formal equivalence and conversion is the most frequently deployed method. Conversion could be used in all parts of speech such as conversion of nouns into verbs and verbs into adjectives. And because there are so many kinds, it is necessary to learn some techniques and strategies. There are already many discussions about the extent to which the form should be changed and how it can be changed. Besides, many theories have been put forward. Researches in this field have been deepened and combined with other fields such as cognitive linguistics. Based on those theories and past researches, this thesis focuses on the conversion of parts of speech in English-Chinese translation to make translation more accurate and expressive.
