Abstract: As a prestigious translator in China, Professor Zhang Peiji has played a significant role in Chinese-English prose translation and the two volumes of English versions of Selected Modern Chinese Essays have been regarded as his representative works. Style is as important as content to preserve the literary flavor of the original in translation. As the style of a text is reflected by its language, this thesis is intended to make a study of style reproduction in the two volumes of Selected Modern Chinese Essays by means of analyzing words, sentence patterns and rhetorical devices in translation. It can be assumed that the result of this thesis will deepen readers’ understanding of style reproduction and provide some hints for translators later on.

摘要：中国著名翻译家张培基教授在汉英散文翻译方面有着重大影响，两辑《英译中国现代散文选》被誉为其代表作。在翻译的过程中，为译出原文韵味，风格的重要性不亚于内容。因语言反映文章风格，本文通过分析两辑《英译中国现代散文选》的字词、句式和修辞，意在研究其原文风格是如何再现的。该研究的结果旨在加深读者对风格再现的理解，以期在风格翻译方面对未来的翻译学者提供一定的帮助。
