Abstract: This study aims to provide an analysis on characters in Oscar Wilde’s fairy tales. The first part of the thesis gives a brief introduction to Wilde and his fairy tales. The second part serves as the main body to illustrate the encoding of the characters. The last part brings the whole thesis to a conclusion. The paper concludes that Oscar Wilde combined reality and ideals in his fairy tales to embody his aesthetic ideas together with his thoughts on harsh reality. The characters of his fairy tales, serving as his tongue and mouth, cry for generosity, humanism and charity.

摘要：本文旨在研究奥斯卡·王尔德童话中的人物。第一部分对王尔德及其童话做简洁介绍。第二部分作为论文主体，阐述人物对应的寓意。第三部分作为总结。童话的主角作为美学的实践者，承载了王尔德的美学在现实中面临的矛盾。他的美学主义观倡导艺术应该远离生活，主旨思想是艺术应指导生活脱离低级的物质趣味。他笔下的童话人物从而作为他的喉舌倡导宽容，人道主义，以及善德。
