Abstract:Chapman’s Homer, including Iliad and Odyssey, is the origin of kinds of literary traditions in the West. The two epics above become visible in the facts from the facts from the beginning that the women appearing in the writings of Homer aren’t free, because they are all bound. There are varied conditions to which the women are bound. The facts that all women are bound, can result from the deeper society at that time. Helen, often called Helen of Troy, is an important role in this book. Her image, especially her beauty, attracts various heroes and is considered to be the main cause of Trojan War. To some extent, Helen’s image reflects women in ancient Greece have low positions as men’s vassal.
