Abstract:Both Romeo and Juliet and Butterfly Lovers have been very popular love tragedies in the West and China. These two classics have something in common such as the themes and styles. But the way the two heroines pursue their love is quite different, which presents the different views of love in China and the West. The western people are passionate and independent. They firmly believe that love ranks above everything and they are entitled to enjoy the happiness. However, the Chinese people are reserved. They often attach great importance to the human relation and have strong collective consciousness. Because of the different cultural psychology, there are many marked differences between the heroines, such as the process of pursuing love, their expressions of love and their attitudes to love, which reveals the different views of love in China and the West. Based on the previous research, this thesis discusses the differences in views of love of Zhu Yingtai and Juliet, and the main causes behind the differences from a cultural perspective in the hope that it can help communication between China and the West.

摘要:《梁山伯与祝英台》和《罗密欧与朱丽叶》是中西方备受欢迎的两部爱情悲剧，两部作品在主题和风格极具相似性。但在对爱情的追求中，两个女主人公却凸现出不同方式；呈现出中西方女性的不同的爱情观。西方人热情、奔放、信奉爱情至上，有着极强的独立人格意识。中国人含蓄、重道德，强调的是集体主义意识。正是由于中西方不同的文化心态，使得两部作品中女主人公在追求爱情的过程，爱情的表达上，对爱情的态度上有所差异。本文在借鉴前人研究的基础上，以祝英台和朱丽叶为例，从文化角度入手，分析比较中西方女性不同的传统爱情观，及其导致差异的文化背景,为促进中西方文化交流提供一点启示。
