Abstract:The World War Two and the development of the following industrialization brought a lot of disturbance to the growth of American adolescence which was presented by J.D. Salinger through his only novel named The Catcher in the Rye. In this novel, Salinger displayed the physiology of the young generation represented by its protagonist Holden in their adolescence, outlining the great picture of the growth puzzlement and the experience of becoming mature of the America adolescents after the World War Two. In my paper, I will display the confusion and puzzlement of Holden and the progress of his final mature by the analysis of the characteristics and development of Holden’s growth. On top of that, I will also pay attention to the problems which the current Chinese adolescents may encounter and make a comparative analysis between them and Holden so as to realize you the representativeness and the lasting influence of The Catcher in the Rye.
There will be four parts, namely the introduction、the generalization of the novel and the main contents of this paper.
In the first chapter, the main analysis will be laid on the condition of America in 1950s and Holden’s misbehaviors because of his cynical sensitivity while in the second chapter; I will turn the visual angel to the spiritual world during Holden’s spiritual growth and make some analysis and in the third chapter, based on the experience of Holden’s growth, I will give a brief introduction of psychology condition of the present Chinese adolescents and provide them with some advice to help them break the barrier on the road to adult.
Adolescence is the transition from child to adult which everyone has to experience. What I would love to tell those adolescents through my paper,on the way to be adults, is that many youngsters like you, feeling confused and puzzled. However, you can break this barrier and embrace you bright future, if you can hold on your belief.

摘要:第二次世界大战以及其后工业化的发展给美国青少年的成长带来了诸多的困扰,J.D.塞林格通过其唯一的一篇长篇小说《麦田里的守望者》的主人公霍尔顿两天的生活经历向我们展现了以霍尔顿为代表的青年一代在青春期过程中表现出来的精神特征,成功地描述了二战后美国青少年的成长困惑以及他们内心世界成熟的历程。本论文将从霍尔顿的心理特征和发展历程出发,逐步展现和霍尔顿同样阶段的年轻人成长过程所遭遇的困惑、迷惘,以及最终走向成熟的过程,同时,本文还将着眼于中国当代的青少年在成长过程中所遇到的问题,并将其与霍尔顿的经历作对比,以此体现《麦田里的守望者》所具有的代表性和持久的影响力。
本论文分为四个部分:
引言、对小说的概括、创作背景,并由此引出全文主旨。
第一章主要对霍尔顿所表现出来的种种敏感愤世的行为进行分析。第二章则主要集中对霍尔顿成长的精神世界进行分析。第三章主要从霍尔顿成长历程的角度对中国当代青少年成长过程中行为和精神分析。
青春期是每个人都必须经历的从儿童时代向成人过渡的阶段,本论文希望从对霍尔顿成长历程的分析中告诉每一个青少年,在这一过渡阶段,有很多青少年跟你一样在迷惘和困惑,但是,你们要坚定信念,直面挫折,最终一定会闯过这一关,迎接美好的未来。
