Abstract:Along with the continuous development of science and technology and the deepening economic globalization, cross-cultural communication becomes more and more important. In order to avoid international discord caused by misunderstanding of foreign culture, it is imperative for the people all around the world to gain insights into each other’s culture. Film, an audio-visual art, can reflect various cultural phenomena in society through ways like shaping artistic image. An excellent English film is an all-inclusive carrier of culture, it reveal culture of English spoken countries in an all-around way. Therefore, translation of English subtitles is a significant job. Because only by accurate subtitle translation can author’s intention, personality of film characters and the cultural background of the film can be revealed correctly. This essay will appreciate the translation strategies of English film’s subtitle. All this paper is in the guide of basic translation theories, combining features of subtitle translation such as dramatic synchronization, suiting the character and cross-culture etc. In this essay, we will illustrate all these theories by some specific English film subtitle translation examples. Studying translation strategies of English films’ subtitles can provide reference opinions to subtitle translator, in addition, it can accelerate the development of China’s English film subtitle translation theories.

摘要:随着科学技术的不断发展和全球经济一体化的不断深入，跨文化交际也变得越来越重要。为了防止因文化差异而引起的国际纠纷，让民众深入了解他国的文化变得势在必行。电影作为一门视听艺术，能够通过塑造艺术形象等方式真实地反映社会上各种文化现象。而优秀的英文影片更是包罗万象的文化载体，它能多方面,多角度地展示了英语语言国家的文化。因此，电影字幕的翻译就显得尤为重要，只有精准的字幕翻译，才能正确地反映作者的用意,电影角色的个性，还有电影的文化背景等。本文将以直译,意译,归化和异化等基本翻译理论为指导，结合电影字幕翻译声画同步,切合人物性格,跨文化等特点，并结合具体英文电影字幕翻译实例，对英文电影字幕翻译策略进行赏析。通过对英文电影字幕翻译策略的研究，可以为我国以后的英文电影字幕的翻译提供参考意见。
