Abstract：Signs play an important role during note-taking of interpretation, serving mainly as clues for recalling information and memory reinforcers to help improve the quality of consecutive interpreting. Proper using of signs could upgrade the quality of interpretation. Otherwise it will be one of the biggest disturbing factors that divert the interpreter’s attention from comprehending the original message. The author intends to identify the critical issues concerning the use of signs in an interpretation exam of senior English majors at the College of Arts and Science, Beijing Union University (CAS, BUU).

　　　This paper falls into four parts. The first part introduces the system of signs. The second part discusses the importance of using signs in note-taking; the third part analyzes a survey on the note taking of the English major students in CAS, BUU. The last part proposes suggestions for students to improve their note-taking skills.

中文摘要:符号在口译笔记中发挥着十分重要的作用，尤其实在减轻记忆压力，提示记忆环节发挥着不容忽视的作用。正确的使用符号可以实现提高口译质量的目的。但是，如果符号使用的不恰当不准确，它就可能成为影响译员理解分析原语、实现正确口译的最大干扰因素之一。

　　　本文以北京联合大学应用文理学院外语系三年级学生为研究对象，对他们的口译笔记进行了实证研究。总结并分析了该校学生在口译笔记的应用方面的规律和特点，并对其中存在的问题提出行之有效的解决方案，希望有助于提高应用文理学院英语专业学生口译笔记整体水平。
