Abstract:According to the talent cultivation and course requirements of higher education, students should learn English with the principle of “practicability priority comes first, utilization goes result in sufficiency”. Namely, students’ listening and speaking ability should be strengthened so that they can realize the transformation from English language knowledge to English language ability. Lots of researches illustrated that reading aloud training has a great influence on improving these abilities. However, more and more college students are unwilling to read aloud in English. In another word, “Deaf English” or “Dumb English” is a common phenomenon on college English learning. As to this situation, the study presents a hypothesis that non-English majors have no systemic training of reading aloud in English. The hypothesis will be verified by adopting effective measures, an interview for teachers and a questionnaire for students in Honghe University, which aims at collecting the data on students reading aloud. On the basis of data, some problems and reasons for those problems in English reading aloud of students will be analyzed in details. With the help of Constructivism Theory, the importance of reading aloud in English learning will be emphasized, which can alert college students to focus on reading aloud so that they can implement the English reading aloud planning consciously and actively. As a consequence, it will be an efficient way to enhance their English comprehensive ability as a language.

中文摘要:根据高等教育的人才培养和课程要求,大学英语学习要以“实用第一,够用为度”为基本原则。即大学英语学习应该加强学生的听说能力,使英语语言知识彻底转化为英语语言运用能力。许多研究表明英语朗读对提高英语听说能力有很大的作用,然而越来越多的大学生却不愿朗读英语,处于“哑巴英语”或“聋子英语”的英语学习状态。本研究针对此状态,提出大学非英语专业学生在大学英语学习中没有系统的朗读训练的假设。为了验证此假设,作者以红河学院为个案研究,采用教师访谈及学生问卷调查的方法收集与之相关的数据,并在数据分析中找出英语朗读学习中存在的各种问题及其出现这些问题的原因。同时用建构主义理论分析英语朗读训练对英语朗读及其学习的重要性,并提出有效的建议,以期警醒非英语专业学生在英语学习中充分重视朗读的作用并积极实施英语朗读计划,从而加强他们英语语言的综合运用能力。
