Abstract:Color is what almost everyone encounters in everyday life. Scientific research indicates that the reason why the color words exist to record perception of color. But now color words, is not only indicating the meaning of a simple color but also containing deep cultural connotation. Due to the cultural differences between Chinese culture and English culture, color words are embedded with different national feelings, which would result in misunderstanding even wrong translation in intercultural communication. This dissertation takes some colors for instance to analyze cultural connotations and hidden national feelings in color words in English and Chinese countries from different aspects, such as cultural connotation, cultural tradition and cultural psychology. It aims to make English learners and English workers attach importance to knowing language learning and culture communication, work out some methods to eliminate barriers during intercultural communication, and then improve the level of communication and avoid cultural conflicts.

摘要:每个人在日常生活中几乎都会遇到颜色。科学研究表明，颜色词的出现是为了记录人们对颜色的感知。但是现在颜色词不仅仅表示一种颜色还包含了深刻的文化内涵。由于英汉文化的差异，颜色词也嵌入了不同国家的情感，这样在跨文化交际中便会导致对颜色词的误解甚至错误的翻译。本文选出几种颜色词作为例子从不同的方面，例如文化内涵、文化传统和文化心理，来分析其在中英两国的文化内涵和隐含的国家感情。目的在于使英语学习者和英语工作者更多的重视了解语言学习与文化交际方面的知识，找出消除跨文化交际中的语言障碍，从而提高交际水平，避免文化冲突。
