Abstract:Color and mankind’s life are vitally related. To color cognition, “black” is one of human’s most basic cognition categories, which is one of the color words that appeared first in society. It has strong national characteristics in both English and Chinese. It involves a nationa history and culture, and is also related to human thought and the emotion change. For the basic meaning, it is the same in these two languages, but it actually has different cultural associations. Then for the usage of Chinese and English, it is involving differences in emotional significance and people’s psychology. Therefore, the translation of the color word “black” uses various corresponding methods. This article concentrates on translation research of the color word “black”. The purpose of the article is to introduce and explain the translation of the color word “black”, including the essential translation method, fixed translation in culture, and so on. Therefore, the translation of the color word “black” is not only a beneficial translation practice, but also a valuable creative process.

中文摘要:颜色与人类的生活息息相关。对颜色的认知，也是人类最基本的认知范畴之一,而黑色是人类社会最先出现的颜色词之一，在英汉语中带有浓厚的民族色彩，涉及到民族的历史和文化等方面，还联系到人类的思想和情感的变化。从字面意义看,在英汉两种语言中含义相同，但却拥有着不同的文化联想；从汉英使用来看，它对人的实际心理以及所具有的情感意义等方面都存在着不同。如此，对黑色的翻译必须运用各种适当的方法。本文专注于黑色的汉译研究，旨在介绍和解释黑色在各个方面的翻译，包括翻译的基本技巧、约定俗成的固定翻译,等等。因此，翻译黑色不仅仅只是一次有益的翻译练习，而是一个极具价值的再创造过程。
