Abstract: This study aims to analyse the tragedy of the father in The Bluest Eye. Most of readers focus on Pecola’s tragedy in the novel. But in the other way, Pecola’s father, Cholly, who was considered to have caused Pecolla’s tragedy directly, was also a victim. This paper aims to find the truth about Cholly’s tragedy through analysis on the surroundings he lived, social environment, and the deficiency of black culture. Through analysis, this paper draws a conclusion that the father’s tragedy was not only caused by his own quality but also relevant to social environment and culture hegemony. So it is very important for the black community to stick to their national culture in order to live long and healthily.

摘要：本文分析了《最蓝的眼睛》中父亲的悲剧。在以往的对于《最蓝的眼睛》的分析多集中在女主角佩克拉的悲剧上，忽略了文中另一个重要的角色，即佩克拉的父亲。佩克拉的父亲虽然是造成佩克拉的悲剧的直接“凶手”，但是他自己也是个受害者。本文旨在通过对佩克拉父亲成长的环境，社会环境，黑人自身文化缺失等方面的研究，找出佩克拉父亲悲剧的真相.因此，黑人群体需要坚守本民族的传统文化才能长久而健康的生存下去。
