ABSTRACT:To learn English well is a necessity for college students. However, most of the non-English majors lose interest towards English study (Xu Chunyan, 2011). Einstein had ever said,“Interest is the best teacher”, it is believed that many students can’t learn English well because they lack the interest towards English. Therefore, it is necessary to study the reason why non-English majors lose interest towards English study. Taking 200 non-English majors of Chongqing University of Science and Technology as the object of the research, this study, through questionnaire surveyed the general situation of their learning interest. As a result, most students have a low interest towards English study. Then, this study analyzes the reasons why students lose interest towards English learning from the aspects of the student, the teacher and the university. Finally, this paper made the suggestions from the aspects of the student, the teacher and the university, and explored some methods to improve students’ interest towards English study.
