中文摘要：近年来，随着经济全球化日趋加剧，无论是民间交流还是官方合作，英语已经成为跨国交流的重要沟通纽带，其重要性不言而喻。虽然英语在语言上原为一种语言，但随着发展与衍变，逐渐形成了许多变体，英式英语与美式英语则被认为是两种最主要的变体，美式英语也越来越被人们接受与使用。但美式英语与英式英语还是存在着一定的差别。为了了解这些差异,更好地激发英语学习者的好奇心和创造力，本文重点研究英式英语与美式英语在词汇上的差异。通过研究，不难发现，英式英语与美式英语的词汇差异主要体现在三个方面，包括发音，拼写以及词义,其中词义差异又体现在同词异义和同异异词和一些特殊单词的差异上。而造成这些差异的原因，究其根本则主要归因与英美历史，经济，社会环境以及政治方面的不同。但这些不同却并不会影响英语本身的规范性和科学性。作为英语的两种重要变体，它们都很好的为本民族服务，成为重要的沟通工具。现如今，英语普及度极高的情况下，弄清这些差异是十分有必要的。这不仅能够帮助语言学习者更好的学习英语，也能够对英美两国的历史及现状有更好的理解，从而更好的融入全球化。
