ABSTRACT:With the development of society, the concept of “ecology” has come into our daily life, and gained its attention around the world. Therefore, ecology is gradually combined with other subjects; Eco-translatology is a good example. Art of War is a worldwide famous military guide book and its several translations make a wide spreading of its military thoughts. 

　　　In this dissertation, the author aims to analyze Lionel Giles’ English translation of Art of War from the perspective of Eco-translatology. Eco-translatology can be understood as an ecological approach to translation studies or translation studies from an ecological perspective (Hu, 2008). It provides a new angle to study the translation of Art of War, and through the analysis of Giles’ English version and the impacts on his translation from translational eco-environment factors, the feasibility and the effectiveness of Eco-translatology should be proved. 

　　　Based on the analysis above, two conclusions will be reached. 

　　　1. Eco-translatology provides a new angle to the study of Art of War.

　　　2. During the process of translation, adaptation and selection are two unavoidable steps for the translator. Only by making a good preparation of the two steps, can the translator complete a better translation.

摘要:随着社会的发展，“生态”越来越受到人们的关注。生态学也逐渐与其他学科相结合，生态翻译学就是一个很好的例子。《孙子兵法》是一本世界闻名的古典军事著作，其多个译本将《孙子兵法》中的思想得以广泛传播

　　　本文以生态翻译学为视角，对翟林奈《孙子兵法》译作的翻译过程、对翻译生态环境的适应与选择等进行解读。生态翻译学是一种基于生态取向或者生态学视角的新兴领域的翻译研究方法，为《孙子兵法》的英译研究提供了新的研究角度，并且通过翟林奈《孙子兵法》英译过程中对各种生态翻译环境因素的分析，进一步论证了生态翻译学作为一种新的翻译研究手段的适用性和可行性。

　　　通过分析，本文将得出以下结论：1）生态翻译学为《孙子兵法》的英译研究提供了新的理论视角；2）在翻译过程中，译者对翻译生态环境的适应与选择是必然的步骤，做好了适应与选择才能翻译出更好的译本。
